Handle with clean, dry hands. Support from beneath — never squeeze the body or touch the mechanism directly. Watch for unusual sounds, changes in runtime, or resistance while winding.
Check for loose fasteners, misaligned seams, or rubbing parts. If you notice drag or noisy operation, stop using it and log the symptom for later diagnosis.
Use a soft dry brush or microfiber to lift dust. For stubborn spots, a barely damp cloth with mild soap — away from the mechanism — and test on an inconspicuous area first.
Never introduce water or household oils into the mechanism. Use air puffs (not high-pressure) to dislodge dust. Stiff or gritty action? Pause use and seek professional cleaning/lubrication.
